Deon Tromp is Trustlink’s new CEO
Deon Tromp has been appointed CEO of Trustlink, at a time when the business has operations both in South Africa and 24 African countries.
Deon has 16 years’ experience in the banking and insurance sectors where he held various roles. These ranged from strategic value management, risk and compliance and process design. All these positions have served to prepare him for his current role. He is a qualified advocate, a chartered financial analyst and a certified risk manager, with a keen interest in technology.
Business in a mature phase
“Trustlink is 12 years old, and in a mature phase in its history. We have a loyal and steady customer base, which includes major financial institutions, central banks and large corporate enterprises. Our SWIFT bureau is the largest in Africa, and one of the largest in the globe with presence in 16 countries. In addition, we have a team of highly competent and technically skilled staff, who have a track record for delivery and service excellence,” Tromp said.
“We are proud of our accomplishments, and the key partners we have in place that allow us to deliver our solutions in the payments sector. We see fresh opportunities that will reinvigorate our current product offerings,” he added.
Newer technological innovations and alternative platforms are driving these opportunities. Trustlink, for example, has forged a partnership with Australian-based VIX Verify to offer their Green ID digitised security and identity solution. Increased regulatory requirements and imminent arrival of digitised currency, block chain and central banking payment systems make security around individual identity more crucial than ever before.
“In addition, VIX Investments, the parent company of Vix Verify, has become a significant shareholder in our business, due to the potential of our reach into Africa and our diversified service offerings,” Tromp said.
Trustlink represents a number of suppliers, all of which are global leaders in their fields. The company is a regional representative for Vix Verify, Axway and Vision Solutions, and is an IBM Premier Business partner and the SWIFT partner for Western, Central and Southern Africa. These partnerships were specifically chosen for their interlinking benefits to Trustlink and its customers.
