Monica SingerStrate’s CEO Monica Singer has been appointed as the Vice President of Africa & Middle East Depositories Association (AMEDA).

 

AMEDA was established in 2005 to reduce risks related to depository, clearing and settlement issues and to support efforts to raise efficiency by means of promoting internationally-oriented policies on local bases in the African and Middle Eastern region. Originally, AMEDA started with 7 members, which has now grown to 29 members from over 25 countries.

 

It supports local markets in their efforts to adopt securities market regulations, while considering their specific circumstances, and to serve as a dialogue channel with other organisations worldwide. AMEDA is a forum for the exchange of information and experiences among its members in the spirit of mutual co-operation. It promotes best-practice recommendations in services, such as securities, depository, settlement, clearing and risk management.

Singer aims to promote collaboration on innovative projects

In her role, she will also drive various activities within AMEDA, such as assisting members with regulation in their markets, advocating their interests by participating in events of significant relevance and facilitating member, market institution, financial intermediary and investor awareness of current relevant information, activities and events.

 

One such event is the CPSS-IOSCO Risk Management Workshop on 24 September 2013 in Dubai. The workshop, which will be facilitated by Dale Connock as the Head of Strate’s Risk Management Division, will cover various topics, such as a basic overview of the CPSS-IOSCO Principles, Governance Principles and Risk Principles, to name but a few.
